With over a decade of experience in supporting educators, Emma Hartnell-Baker has identified the need for targeted training that empowers parents and teachers to effectively support children in learning to read and spell: designed for parents of children aged 2 to 11 who are navigating or at risk of learning challenges such as speech delay, dyspraxia, ADHD, autism, or dyslexia.

Rejecting the one-size-fits-all education model, we advocate for a proactive, personalised learning approach. By embracing methods that resonate with each child's unique learning style—be it mathematical, multisensory, or visual—we aim to make learning to read a pleasurable and engaging experience.

The current literacy teaching landscape, shaped significantly by the adoption of synthetic phonics following the 2006 Rose Report, has not fully addressed the literacy challenge. Our 'Speech Sound Mapping' approach revisits and enriches the concept of reading for pleasure, integrating technology and innovative teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of all learners, especially those underserved by traditional education systems.

Our workshops offer a gateway for parents to discover and utilise effective strategies that not only facilitate reading proficiency but also foster a lifelong passion for reading in their children. We are dedicated to ensuring every child's learning journey is supported, leaving no child behind.
